An unboxing video of the Meta Quest 3 was leaked, revealing a box size that is smaller than initially expected.
Meta Quest 3 has been a major topic of discussion within the VR industry lately, primarily due to its significant improvements over its predecessor. The official announcement from Meta two months ago further fueled the conversation. Despite these announcements, there are still aspects of the headset that remain unknown.
However, certain questions appear to have been answered by an anonymous Redditor who shared an unboxing video of the device and deleted it shortly after. Fortunately, we have managed to secure a copy of the recording.
As can be seen, the Quest 3 arrives in a much smaller box in comparison to both Quest 2 and Quest Pro, similar to the size of the Oculus Go packaging. Within this box, users can expect to find the headset itself, accompanied by two controllers, and another box likely containing the charging cable, along with potentially different accessories, such as a replacement rubber facial interface.
The recently leaked Charging Dock is not visible within the packaging. While it could potentially be hidden beneath the headset holder, we have doubts about this possibility, considering that Meta would be more likely to offer it as an optional accessory.
Interestingly, there’s more to this story. The individual behind the video recording has shown two drawings demonstrating the proper way to wear the headset while wearing glasses. The demonstration appears to align with the button(s) that a user named NyaVR had previously discovered through data mining efforts.
This button (or buttons, as it isn’t entirely clear what we are looking at here) serves a significant purpose: adjusting the headset’s position either backward or forward to accommodate users wearing glasses. This would offer a far more convenient solution compared to the previous need to remove the facial interface and install a separate one for glasses, a requirement that was present with the Quest 2.
More details about the headset are set to be revealed during the Meta Connect event, starting on September 27th and spanning a two-day, in-person gathering. We can anticipate even more info about the company’s future products and innovations being revealed at the event.
